The original Almerindo Portfolio was Treasurer of the City of New York under Mayor LaGuardia. He started his career as an immigrant messenger boy in the Garment District, and eventually built his own successful clothing company.
When he retired, he gave the company to his seven best employees. One of them was his brother, my great-grandfather, Pasquale Portfolio. To show his brother thanks, I suppose, Pasquale named his tenth child Almerindo. Who then named his son Almerindo. Who then gave the name to me.
I was born in 1980, in New York City. I have lived in Madrid and Shanghai, among other places, but I’m now back in NYC. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll stay, but that’s another story.
My interests include civil liberties, human rights, the empowerment of women, and the peace movement. You can read my essays to learn more about my philosophy.
